"Is it true?" she demands, as soon as Michael picks up.
His silence is all the answer she needs.
"Oh, God," Danny says, and collapses into a chair.
"You okay?" Michael asks. He's the only one who's ever cared enough to ask.
"I don't know." She doesn't know how to feel. There's a deep well inside of her, gaping and empty, and she has no idea how to fill it. She hesitates, then asks, "You going to the funeral?"
"Yeah," Michael says. "I want to meet our half-brothers. Maybe find out how he died. You?"
Danny smiles, bitterly.
"No. Never."
