Nobody explained anything to Danny.

Her mommy told her that she was going to have a little brother, and then wouldn't say why she was crying, or why Daddy was so mad all the time. Her Aunt Jennifer picked her up from daycare one day and didn't tell her why until they went to the hospital after dinner.

Daddy wasn't there. Nobody said why.

She stood on tiptoe to look at the cradle and her little brother asleep inside. He looked little, and fragile.

"Why's he all wrapped up like that?" she whispered, to Aunt Jennifer.

Nobody explained that either.

Oh, man. You know when they don't tell little kids anything, it's really, really bad.

Good take on kid!Danny, for how she just can't figure it out.

Oh yeah. Especially when it seems like they don't have time for the kids because they're so wrapped up in their own troubles.
