Notes: Companion to Becalmed.
The sun hung low and red in the sky, summer heat warm on his skin, when Michael Sierbenski first came to Chicago.
He was supposed to meet Terry in Jackson Park, but Terry was late, and he had nothing to do but sit by the lake and look out over the rippling waters, at the late-afternoon sunlight sparking off the waves.
He propped his hands on his knees, and let them dangle loosely before him, watching the currents stir the water, basking in the dying light.
Terry would come along eventually.
For now, he was fine where he was.
