Summer was five years old when Lars first met her; barely out of toddlerhood, round-faced, with wide eyes and red hair in fat curls around her face. No one knew where she'd gotten the curls, Aaron had said. But no one really knew anything about Summer, then.
She'd looked up at Lars with those innocent blue eyes and informed him that his shirt collar was askew. In those words exactly.
After he'd picked his jaw up off the floor, he'd asked her to fix it for him. She obliged, solemn and quiet, and Lars lost his heart on the spot.
