Yvonne terrified Theresa.
Which was ridiculous. Yvonne was her sister, her little sister. Theresa was sturdy, not attractive but strong: Yvonne, in all her fragile beauty, could not compete. Yet.
Yet Yvonne had no compuction about screaming, about sobbing, about biting and clawing and pulling hair. She'd burned Theresa's homework, cut off all her hair one night while she slept. She hadn't hurt Theresa, but Theresa had no doubt that she could.
Now she was looking at Hugh from under her lashes, a tight, bloody-red dress embracing her curves, and all Theresa could do was sit frozen in her spot.
