Title: sleeping
Rating: PG.
Summary: Olivia in darkness.
Date: October 2003
Notes: none
WARNING for depressive thoughts and behavior.
Someone was knocking on her door.
Olivia opened her eyes and stared at the dark ceiling above her, wondering if she should get up. The door was locked and the light was off, so whoever it was could hardly think anyone was in. But it might be important.
They knocked again, and called a name-- her roommate's. Oh. She needn't bother, then.
She turned her head on the pillow, blinking against the light that striped in through the half-closed blinds, and looked at her bedside clock. Ten. She could still get to class, if she wanted. She'd be late, but she could go.
Whoever stood outside her door had stopped knocking. Faint squeaking sounds told her they were writing a message on the whiteboard. For her roommate, of course-- no one left a message for Olivia. No one here knew her.
Would they miss her, if she didn't go to class? Would they even notice she was gone? What if she never woke up? Would anyone care?
Olivia closed her eyes. No point in going, really.
Maybe if she went back to sleep, she really would never wake up.
Outside, whoever had been knocking walked away with heavy, final steps.
