Title: Law
Rating: G
Summary: Jake, studying for an exam.
Warnings: none.
Notes: This school subject thing is more fun than it seems.
"This can't be right," Jake said.
"What?" His roommate Toby didn't even bother looking up. Both of them had a corporate tax final in the morning, and Jake at least felt less prepared than he would like. Still, there was only so much cramming one could do at a time, so he'd switched to a 'stupid laws' book his foster sister Andrea had sent him when he applied for law school, and now there was... this.
"Apparently," he said, "you can be fined 25$ for flirting in New York. I just... why?"
Toby shrugged. "Somebody probably flirted with the wrong senator's wife. How should I know?"
It did seem like the sort of law with an epic story behind it. Jake sighed, and shut the book. "I don't know. I have to look this up in the morning."
"If we're still alive after this final," Toby said, dourly. "It might be illegal to flirt but I bet our professor can still hang us out to dry."
Probably. Jake switched back to his textbook and flipped back to estimated economic value. Why he'd even bothered to take this class... ugh. Well, no knowledge was ever wasted.
Even if it was ridiculous.
