Title: Ripples
Rating: G
Summary: Ivy and family on vacation.
Warnings: none.
Notes: This is indirectly inspired by something Isanah wrote.

Leah is so small, still. She lies on the beach in the little ripples of water with her feet up and a bright smile on her face, and Ivy wants to run and scoop her up because little ripples become big waves so quickly, and Leah is still so small.

This is a sheltered cove, though. The curve of the land protects it from the full force of the ocean. Leah is safe enough where she is, in her water shoes and little baby goggles.

Andy was never that small. He's crouched over by Gina, digging in the sand with fierce concentration. He hasn't gone far from Gina's side this entire trip. Ivy's glad for Gina's sake, but a little jealous for her own. Andy has always been her son.

Leah pushes herself up now, standing wobbly in the rills of water that inch up the beach, sand clinging all down her front. She can walk and balance pretty well, but she's still very little and her footing is uncertain, so Ivy moves instinctively to steady her.

Leah beams her gap-toothed grin and toddles forward, both her arms outstretched. Ivy stops and lets her daughter come to her, wrap her arms around her leg and press her forehead against her knee.

"Mommy," Leah says, and Ivy can't help but smile.
