Summary: Ahava makes up for accidentally nearly killing Duncan.
Notes: Sequel to Accidents.


"Seriously though," Ahava said, reaching out to pet his shoulder. "I am sorry."

"You said it about six times," Duncan said. They'd let him take off the oxygen mask; now he was just waiting for the swelling to go down. "It's okay."

"It's not," she said, "but maybe this'll help," and she shoved a teddy bear in his arms.

To be more specific it was her teddy bear, the one her mom had given her when she was four and jealous of Tim, uncertain and unhappy. It was her favorite stuffed animal, her favorite toy period, and he couldn't possibly take it away from her.

"Ahava," he started, but she was shaking her head.

"He's yours now," she said. "Don't argue."

He shut his mouth obediently—it was always wiser not to argue with Ahava—and cuddled the bear against his chest. It was soft and plush and practically oozed love, Ahava's and her mother's, warm and happy and thick as honey.

Anyway it made him feel better.

Guess Ahava knew what she was doing.
