Rating: G
Summary: Maya and priorities.
Warnings: child abandonment
Notes: Strictly speaking Maya did not run away, but regardless.
It's Maya's first day on her own—insofar as she'll ever be on her own again, and doesn't that thought make her feel sick? But that can't be on her mind right now. She's got so much stuff to think about.
Food. A place to sleep. A job. She needs to survive, somehow.
The sun is setting between the buildings, and red-orange light floods over her face. For a moment she can't see anything or anyone, and she feels alone, invisible, seen only by the sky and the posters that line the alley.
Her stomach growls and she winces. Food.
