Notes: I like crosswords, but this clue drives me NUTS.
Gina bent over her puzzle, frowning, and called back to Ivy lounging on the couch, "What's a four-letter word for sea eagle?"
When Ivy didn't answer, Gina looked up, only to find her wife watching her with soft eyes. "What?" she asked, looking down at herself. "Is there something on my shirt?"
"No," Ivy said, and shook her head. "No, nothing like that. I was just... erne."
"What?" Gina asked again, confused.
"Erne," Ivy repeated. "E-R-N-E. Sea eagle."
"Oh!" She wrote it in, and smiled. "Yes, that's it. Thanks."
Ivy got up and kissed her temple, right where her hair had begun to turn silver. She had thought about dyeing it, but it seemed like too much effort for too little reward, and when Ivy kissed her now, there and at the delicate lacing of lines around her eyes, she couldn't regret it.
"Anytime," Ivy said, and kissed her cheek.
