Notes: Alexandra is Joy and Chloe's daughter; Noah is her biological father. This story is based off Dar Williams' song "Crystal Creek," albeit with less murder.
In the city she is Alexandra, pale and polished, sea-eyed daughter of a pop princess and a model. It's true enough; the regal lift to her chin, her dark hair and brows mark her a queen among fools, a stark black iris amid pink floating peonies. She likes that part of herself.
But she likes this part too. Alex in the greenwood hunting with her daddy, lifting her bow, steadying her breath until the whole universe comes to a still point and, with reverence, she looses.
She is a priestess here, not a queen. Her every green-tinged step is holy.
