"Xie xie nin," Summer says, in the most polite mode, wringing out her hair as she sits on the rocks. "I would have been in real trouble if you weren't there."
Setsuko, lounging in the water below her, waves off the apology with a lazy flip of her hand. "No, no," she says, equally politely. "It was my pleasure." Then she grins. "Did you see their faces?"
Summer laughs. "Oh, yes! It was so funny." She squeezes more water from her hair, thoughtfully. "I suppose I'll have to apologize later."
"Yes," Setsuko says, and giggles. "But it was worth it."
