"Why are you digging?"
Aaron glanced up from the shovel. Maria stood at the edge of the hole, hands on her naked hips. She'd gotten all the blood off, he noted, and went back to work.
"You know how romance goes," he said. "Hearts, diamonds, clubs, then spades."
She smirked at him, then asked, "Seriously, though, why are you digging? I already set the body on fire."
Aaron paused, then said, "Oh. Right. Well, it'll confuse the cops." He got out of the hole and started filling it in. Maria smirked at him again.
"Remind me why did I kill him?" she asked, idly, watching him work.
He bared his teeth. It wasn't a smile. "He was harassing my sister's fiancee," he said. "Gina felt unsafe. She's a nice person, she shouldn't feel unsafe."
"Fair enough," Maria said. "He was an asshole anyway."
