They are so happy.
He knew this was coming. He saw it in Zack's eyes, in the tilt of Summer's head, in the way they reached for each other. He thinks Zack was always in love with Summer, underneath all the annoyance; he knows that Summer always loved Zack.
He knew, too, that he'd be jealous. He loves them both, would take either, will get neither, and knew that all along. He thought he could handle it, hide his hurt and be happy for them.
He knows now, watching them together and feeling so alone it burns, that he can't.
