Title: Purple
Rating: PG.
Summary: Mom loved purple.
Date: February 27th, 2006
Notes: Beware the mood whiplash.
Mom loved purple.
In the wedding portrait that hangs above the mantel, she carries a bouquet of purple roses, Daddy wears one in his lapel, and lilacs frame the shot. Her favorite shirt is purple-- it still smells like her, like violets and lavender. When chemotherapy made her lose her hair, she wore a silk purple scarf to cover her head. I gave it to her, and she loved it; she told me it was the most beautiful thing she owned.
Daddy found purple roses somewhere, for Mom to hold in her coffin.
Mom loved purple.
I did too, once.
