Title: rest
Rating: G
Summary: Danny believes in taking life as it comes.
Notes: Danny is a weird blend of Hansel and Gretel, Baba Yaga stories, and Goldilocks. IDK.
The stable reeks, but Danny won't complain—every day they're smelling it is a day the Baba Yaga hasn't killed them, and it's warm and dark, good for rest.
"What's going to happen?" Michael asks, tipping his forehead against her shoulder.
"I don't know," she says. "It doesn't matter."
He blinked, eyelashes ghosting against her neck. "Why not?"
She shrugged her opposite shoulder, trying not to disturb him. "We're warm, we're fed, we're comfortable. The rest can wait."
He falls asleep after that, breathing soft like an infant. She ruffles his hair gently, and settles back to wait for tomorrow.
