Title: Swans
Rating: G.
Summary: Gina and the swans.
Notes: brb swatting plotbunnies.
"Mama!" Gina broke away from her nursemaid and ran to the edge of the water. "Mama, there are swans!"
"Yes, love," her mother answered, indulgent, but hardly listening.
"Can they fly, Mama?" she asked, already imagining the great white wings sweeping across the sky. "Do they go all over the world?"
Her mother was silent for so long that Gina twisted to look up at her, and was shocked to find her eyes wet.
"No, love," she answered, eventually. "Their wings are clipped."
"But why?" Gina cried, horrified. "They should fly!"
Her mother, looking at the swans, did not answer.
