Title: Hijab
Rating: G.
Summary: Joanna at the beach.
Warnings: clothing-related religious intolerance.
Notes: For the record, hijab can mean a modest Islamic style of dress, the religious code governing that style of dress, or the specific head covering. For the Lint Roller, SWL asked Joanna "Have you ever wanted to go against your beliefs to fit? Maybe you actually did at some point?"

Also, this is 100 words long, and it took me three hours to write. THREE. HOURS. *fistshake*

At the end of my senior year of high school, the graduating class decided our senior trip would be to the beach. Naturally, my friends went bikini-shopping. And I had a full-cover suit.

I thought it was pretty when I bought it: bright purple with blue and pink stripes and a skirt. On the beach it didn't look so nice. My classmates made fun of me. My friends tried to get me into a bikini. I ended up spending the entire trip in my hotel room.

I like the ocean, honestly I do. But I don't enjoy the beach anymore.
