Title: Lessons
Rating: PG.
Summary: Ahava learns from her mothers.
Date: Fall 1993
Notes: Trying my hand at tanka. I've done haiku, but never this.
What is life without
some tricks? Ahava knows well
holding yourself close
and apart is a mistake
for you do not see the treats.
She learned this from her
mothers-- both of them women
Of integrity.
One let go, unable to
hold. One held, could not let go.
Every fall, the leaves
Dance and swirl, shreds of color
Buffeted by wind.
Ahava watches the dance
and waits for her next lesson.
Rating: PG.
