Title: Experiment
Rating: G.
Summary: The hypothesis is correct.
Date: Winter 1996
Notes: Frank Sierbenski, ladies and gentlemen. Is it any wonder Danny's so messed up?
The first time he left was an experiment.
He chose the darkest, coldest days of the year, to see if being alone on those long winter nights would make him sad. He rented a hotel suite, told his wife he was leaving her, and spent December and January alone.
As he'd expected, it was deeply relaxing, being without shouting children or hysterical screaming. He could do as he liked, without shrill demands for locations or times.
Hypothesis correct, he concluded, even as he told Rebecca he'd changed his mind. The shine had worn off this family.
Time to try again.
