Notes: Takes place just after Olivia dumps Jake.
Lauren sat down beside him, but Jake didn't let her start.
"Don't."
"Don't what?"
"Don't start on Olivia," he said, and her eyebrows lifted. "Look, I still love her, okay? I think I always will. I know you hate her, but I don't, and I don't want to hear it."
Lauren was quiet, then she said, "I actually wanted to say I think I understand her now. And I'm sorry, for you both."
"Oh," he said, and covered his face with his hands.
Lauren put her arm around him, and was there, as the sun sank under the pink horizon.
