He knows he needs to talk to Cecily about this. He just... can't. Not now. In twenty years of marriage she's never taken him seriously, and she won't start now. She'll pretend not to understand, or ask him flatly if he's kidding, and he can't deal with that anymore.
He'll wait until she gets the divorce papers, and after that they'll talk. It'll probably start out with screaming. She'll probably demand half his stuff-- he won't let her take the kids, but he'll give her anything else, just to get out.
She won't take him seriously?
