Title: Photophobia
Rating: PG
Summary: Melanie writes about a retinal migraine.
Date: 2002
Notes: Melanie is Aaron's mother.
The auras come first, always.
Halos around objects, zig-zagging lines across my vision. Colored sparks of light dancing in my eyes. Sometimes I hear invisible people calling my name. Sometimes I smell smoke.
The first time it happened, I thought I was going crazy until the blinding pain struck and I couldn't even cry, it hurt so much. Now I watch the dancing sparks flicker and twirl until they start to sink and fade, and my mood with them.
I know I had better be lying down once they go, because that’s when the pain comes.
I hate those sparks.
